PACKAGE GUIDE

lewes wedding photographer-headerstrip

Please find below (gained through years of experience!) a guide as to what package / how much time is needed to properly photograph your wedding / civil partnership and capture the shots that you really want. Please phone or e-mail if you need guidance or help or would like an informal chat (actually, it’s always informal!).

Remember, with all my packages the only decision you need to make is how long you want me for - with EVERY package you get a CD with ALL the images PLUS a set of 8"x6" prints of ALL the photos. See price guide page.

One thing that catches nearly every couple out on their wedding day is time. No really - it goes by in a flash (if you excuse the pun). So my advise is to allow adequate time for the photography - and then add some! This is especially true if you have a lot of guests (50+) - moving them around takes a monumental effort & the patience of a saint (remember, they really want to be at the bar!). Also, please remember to allow adequate time for your guests to get from the wedding venue to reception venue (if different) and parking can occasionally be an issue.

So, ALWAYS allow enough time because you do not want to feel rushed or pressurised on your wedding day. Remember, you can always kill time but you can't create it!

Package 1 (1-2 hours / £395)
This package is perfect for small civil weddings / partnerships. In Lewes, these smaller weddings usually take place in the Register Office or Anne of Cleves House, with photos in the beautiful Grange Gardens and Anne of Cleves House Gardens respectively.

My smallest so far is 2 people - the bride & groom - and I was a witness. I even had to go into the street and find a second witness (all part of the service!). The photo of the bride & groom with their witnesses proved problematic - I couldn’t really photograph myself - fortunately the registrar stepped in and took a really great photo!

However, many small weddings do take place in other venues such as Pelham House or Shelley’s Hotel, or perhaps it’s a larger wedding but you only need photography for the first bit.

Typically, the 2 hours splits (roughly) into half an hour photographing guests (& you!) arriving, half an hour photographing the Ceremony (can be a bit less), leaving a hour or so to take photos outside (in the gardens), although the arriving bit can be reduced to 15 minutes to add on at the end - it’s all very flexible and I’ll be guided by you.

Package 2 (2-3 hours / £475)
Again, this package is perfect for small civil weddings / partnerships (as above), but perhaps you want me to come to the reception to just take a few photos of any additional guests, cake cutting (only pretend of course!) and the venue itself.

Equally, you may be having the whole event at say Pelham House or Shelley’s Hotel where 2 hours isn’t quite enough time to capture all the proceedings without being rushed.

Typically, the 3 hours splits (roughly) into half an hour photographing guests (& you!) arriving, half an hour photographing the Ceremony (can be a bit less), leaving approx. 2 hours to take photos of you and your guests at the reception before you eat, including photos outside in the gardens. The arriving bit can be reduced to 15 minutes to add on at the end if necessary, but this is not usually needed with a 3 hour package.

This package is borderline if the wedding & reception are taking place at separate venues - and there’s a journey involved. Perhaps the next package 3 (3-4 hours) would be more appropriate.

Package 3 (3-4 hours / £575)
This package is a kind of “overlap” package! Its great for larger (or longer) civil weddings / partnerships, but equally it also suits a smaller Church wedding with maybe a short drive to the reception.

Typically, the 4 hours splits (depending on whether it’s a Church wedding or civil wedding / partnership) into half an hour photographing guests (& you!) arriving, up to an hour photographing the Ceremony, followed by 45 minutes for photos at the wedding venue. Allow half an hour ‘ish travel time to the reception (if appropriate), and the rest (just over an hour) for photos at the reception. If it’s a civil wedding / partnership, there wouldn’t normally be any travelling as I’m guessing you’ll be staying in the same venue plus the ceremony won’t be as long, so you’ll have more time for photography.

If it is a Church wedding (unless it’s a very small wedding), this package doesn’t really give very much time for capturing all those “casual” shots of people just relaxing & having a good time at the reception. Package 4 (4-6 hours) may be more appropriate.

Package 4 (4-6 hours / £695)
This package is perfect for larger civil weddings / partnerships and Church weddings.

If you’re having a civil wedding / partnership, as well as photographing guests (& you!) arriving and the ceremony itself, you’ll probably be wanting me to stay on for the speeches & evening “do” (unless you have an early / lunchtime wedding lasting into early evening). This gives ample time to cover everything and capture all those casual & informal shots of all your guests relaxing & having a good time.

If you’re having a Church wedding, this package gives loads of time to capture all the events of the day - usually up to the first dance. You could start the day at the house with pictures of the bride getting ready & all the associated “goings on”, followed by the boys at the pub! Then on to the Church for the wedding, family photos outside the Church and on to the reception for all the group shots and lots of photos of the bride & groom (“my Wife & I” by then!). To be followed by cake cutting, speeches & first dance. It’s all very flexible and I’ll be guided by your requirements.

Package 5 (unlimited / £825)
This package is for longer civil weddings / partnerships and Church weddings - usually where you want photos into the evening or you start very early in the day. Most couples get by with package 4 (4-6 hours) - most photographers outstay their welcome after 6 hours!, but this package is useful if you’ve got a really special evening do or have an early start.
